Genesis 2:2 “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.”
Rest is the essence of the soul.
Rest is where we find ourselves replenished, released from strenuous parts of life, and able to regain strength to continue to care for the people and parts of life that can naturally deplete us.
Whether in a season of hustle or a season of simple, remembering to rest is vital. Meditation, whether it’s a more classic meditation session or simply soaking in the beauty of nature for a few moments, can bring a calmness to our souls.
Rest can mean laughing with the ones you love, closing your eyes while you sit quietly with the sun on your face, or a great nap. It’s anything that gets you to a place of recovery and joy rather than output and being productive.
As we’ve seen from God Himself, rest rounds out the week.
